SPUSA ELECTIONS
By Michael Njoroge
Thomas Nudi has been re-elected as 2017/2018 St. Paul’s University Student Association’s (SPUSA) president.
Nudi garnered 444 votes against his closest competitor, Victor Ondiek who got 159 votes during the election that happened on March 23rd, this year.
On the voting day students lined up to vote in polling stations in the four campuses.
When polling stations closed at 6:00PM more than 500 students had cast their votes.
The aspiring leaders also voted, though some of them criticised the electoral commission for not conducting civic education.
At the end of the voting process it emerged that 18% of the votes cast were spoilt.
Ondiek graciously conceded defeat while Nudi promised to work very hard during his second term.
“We have made history in St. Paul’s University. It is the first time a president has been reelected. I am the first SPUSA president to get a second term. It is a feeling of happiness, a feeling of humility and I just want to serve the students better,” Nudi said.
